Today’s project recap puts a crafty spin on Bonus Day! Looking to recycle and reuse, our office manager, Chriss turned to the concept of upcycling – transforming waste or an old product into something new, with better quality and/or higher value. After finding a DIY project that converts a 35mm camera into a phone charger, Chriss visited a local Goodwill store in search of her own inspiration. An old Atari joystick conjured up childhood memories of her first Atari and the hours spent mastering Asteroids, Space Invaders and Ms. Pac-Man. With the help of a little glue, tape, screwdriver and an Apple charging cord, Chriss married the retro feel of the Atari controller with modern technology.
Bonus Day gives team members the opportunity to blur the boundaries between roles and experiment with new ideas and methods. The 24-hour period provides individuals or groups the chance to create an idea or work on something they’ve wanted to but were lacking the opportunity.
