I Smell Brains

Defend the offspring of the Brain Replicating Alien Drifter (aka BRAD) through 12 levels of zombie onslaught or try to rack up a high score by wrecking zombies in survival mode. Either way, you’re the last hope for repulsive aliens everywhere!

About the Work

Revealed and on display at Adobe’s flagship event MAX, which draws 6,000 experts to Los Angeles annually, I Smell Brains isn’t all exploding eyeballs and nuclear worms; it was an internal experiment and R&D project for Phenomblue. The app was compiled simultaneously to work cross-platform, and is available for free on iTunes, the Android Market and the Blackberry App World.

The goal was to demonstrate how quickly effective experiences can be created and developed across different platforms and for a variety of audiences. I Smell Brains was created by reskinning Zombie Christmas, a mobile app we launched for the holidays in December 2010. Combining original art, sound fx and music with modified stock images, I Smell Brains was created in just one week.

I Smell Brains has been installed more than 40,000 times since it launched in October 2011. It was selected as the FWA Mobile of the Day in November, has a rating of 5 out of 5 stars in the iTunes App Store and is included on the Motorola Owners’ Forum, where users reviews include:

“Very well done. In my opinion, they have set the standard for games, in terms of layout, and instructions.”

“I love this more than Angry Birds. I was up until 4 am playing. Was fast and easy to load. A keeper for me.”
