Halloween is scary. Especially when you’re the world’s leading party supplier and big holidays make or break your year. We tripled down on monsters, spells and tricks and came up all treats.
About the Work
Oriental Trading Company is all about fun, so when they wanted to promote their Halloween season with three unique interactive experiences, they came to us.
We created Trick-or-Treat Your Friends, where users create custom Halloween productions by casting friends and pulling photos from Facebook or their computer. Pre-cut shots were filmed using a green screen and on location. Custom 3D and animation bring the productions to life. Products featured in the videos are linked to on the online store for purchasing information.
Tweet A Spell integrates with Twitter so that users can tweet custom spells using their friend’s most frequently used words on Twitter. When a user casts a spell on a friend, they’re notified and linked back to the microsite. The experience capitalized on the massive Twitter user base and allowed the brand to experiment in this new space.
The brand’s already popular Halloween app, Monster Mash-up, also needed some refreshing and enhancement. On the site, users create custom videos by placing photos of friends on to dancing monsters. New skins were implemented, the interface was redesigned and fresh backdrop animations with never-before-seen dances and environments were added. The improved user experience is clean and easy to share with others, extending its potential to be shared.
A larger percentage of users finished the updated Monster Mash-up experience, sharing it across their networks. The number of repeat visitors and time spent on the three sites exceeded expectations.
